Our room at the Carlton Guest House exceeded our expectations. Despite being small, it was clean, functional, and had good wifi. The location was also convenient, with the TST MTR just opposite the hotel. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, especially when we experienced a delay with our luggage. The presence of different nationalities in the Chungking Mansions made it a vibrant and diverse atmosphere, with easy access to halal food options. I would recommend this hotel for its budget-friendly, convenient, and centrally-located accommodation.

I did not feel safe. It is in central kowloon but you have to go into an alley full of touts. The room was very small, the entrance to the badroom was broken and in the morningi saw there was water on the floor and my luggage was wet. I realised this was not the room I saw on Booked.net and I went to askfor another room for the next night. At 9.30 am still nobody at the reception. Ihad to phone the manager and had tocome backat 12 am. I had to insist very much and pay extra 20 eur for a slight better room with a window from which I saw the pictures on Booked.net. Never staid in such an awfull hotel of y life!

It was cheap - probably one third of the cost of the next cheapest and less than a quarter of the cost of other hotels I have stayed in Hong Kong. It is a cross between a Tokyo sleeping pod and a backpacker hostel. It is on 15th floor of a large building, the ground floor of which resembles a Bazar. At first everybody tries to treat you as a soft touch, but once they realise you are no mug you are accepted and greeted as you walk in and out. After paying nearly gbp10 for Bangers and Mash in the Irish Pub next door the Little Indian stall downstairs was very cheap. Not for everybody - but I am 65 and may well return next month
Reception is disorganised. The paperwork tells you to go to 16th Floor where a helpful young lady directs you to 15th floor. There you wait while your room is prepared - this at 23.30 hours. Finally you go down to 12th floor where your room is situated. It is tiny. You can stretch your arms and touch both walls at once. The shower is hand held - if you can squeeze in beside the toilet and wash basin. Tv is smaller than a computer monitor and I could not get a picture on bbc News, the only English language channel.

We had a great experience at this guest house. Despite our delayed flight, the staff at Carlton Guest House kindly waited for us to check in and made sure we were comfortable. The room had all the essential amenities and the location was fantastic, with easy access to public transportation, restaurants, and shops. We were even able to leave our luggage after check-out while we explored the city. We will definitely come back here and highly recommend it to our friends.
Almost perfect 👌.
